Tahoe Ability Program continues to work towards expanding the programming offered to our participants. Recognizing the need for additional support in both a workplace and higher education setting, we have recently added Tailored Day Service. TDS has the potential to support participants through regular job coaching in a position that reflects their skill set and interests. It additionally can be utilized to further post secondary education opportunities or to explore the many volunteer sites our community has to offer.
Having access to continuous 1-1 support in settings like a workplace provide opportunity to those participants who may not have been able to independently maintain a position. This support can be as minimal as aiding in the explanation of tasks for the day, all the way to hand over hand skill assist. TDS can be provided throughout the duration of a shift or maintain pace with the participants individual progress and needs as time goes on. This same principal holds true with support in higher education settings as well. An instructor can provide as much or as little support needed for the participant to succeed on a continuous trajectory.
