As of July 1st, 2022 Tahoe Ability Program is pleased to announce we have been vendored and begun providing Independent Living Service (ILS) in addition to Day Program. This much needed service will provide 1-1 focused programming for participants who live independently as well as those still living at home. We plan to target thirteen areas of focus ranging from meal planning and preparation to medical and dental service; with many important categories in between. This service will give individuals the tools and support needed to efficiently and safely complete activities of daily living, while giving them the independence to learn at their own pace. Independent Living Services aides with real life every day scenarios that an individual may encounter at their home or out in the community.
As a team, we have always felt the importance of advancement for our participants. We recognize as a small mountain town there are gaps in services that can't be filled for our developmentally disabled population. One major need that we saw first hand was for independent living services. Several individuals that may have had access to Day Program services were lacking a very important component to aide them in their home. We knew there needed to be a change. We are excited to continue providing much needed services for our developmentally disabled population and hope to continue our growth in the many years to come.
